Lamenting my 4TB External Hard Drive Since I’m All Outta Disk Space
Published:
I’ve downloaded over 1TB of space and I’m running out of space to store them as they were taking up space on my 512GB laptop, 128GB flash drive, 512GB old laptop, 256GB iPad and my 4TB hard drive.
Why not just use the 4TB hard drive? Because it’s dead now.
I initially bought it to store Xbox One games and it has faithfully done that for 6 years until my sibling went to college with their Xbox. Probably one of the best things I’ve bought under $100 since it was $80 on special. After my sibling left for university, I decided to use it as an external storage medium and it’s now dead. Thankfully I haven’t lost any data, but it sucks that it died, similar to my 128GB external SSD.
Since the 4TB drive is dead now, I discovered an old laptop lying around the house which still has a functioning hard drive capable of storing all but 150GB of my YouTube videos. Given that my old laptop is lying around doing nothing and my area rarely has power cuts (and if there are any, there’s plenty of solar), I might just use it to re-encode my old videos to make them smaller.Actually, because of the sunk cost fallacy, I decided just to delete everything instead. I’ve already downloaded the videos and spent the bandwith, why should I force myself to watch them, especially since I don’t have the time to anymore?
