Why Doesn’t Zimbabwe Give Georgism a Go?

Zimbabwe is a mess. Whenever it makes international headlines, it’s usually for all the wrong reasons like energy crisis, land seizures leading to hyperinflation¹, regular old inflation and so on.

The Zimbabwean government levies a lot of taxes. Import tarrifs, mineral surrenders, VAT, excise taxes, business taxes, financial transaction taxes, corporate taxes, personal taxes. I understand that running a country is expensive, especially with no lines of credit

Yes, I’ve become one of those “a land tax would fix this” people because it makes a lot of sense. Instead of taxing the fruits of our efforts which can discourage better work².
