What The Redesign

Seems like I’m in the same place with Robin in redesigning my site. A site builds up so many hacks that burning it all to the ground and starting again would be so much faster than just continuing to type over it all.

Thing is:

It’s easy to hate your old work but all of these things were attempts to fix one problem or another. And it’s important to remember that every system, given enough time, becomes bloated and unwieldy. It’s impossible to build a website without tech debt, or without problems.

I guess the best way moving forward would be to ask:

how do I prevent future problems? And how do I avoid redesigns of the system five years from today?

For my current site redesign, I hope to approach it iteratively by taking the time to set things up proper. Just hope it seems that way five years from now.
