The other day, I saw this tweet:

The joke is that those two bicker a lot over housing policy being on either side of the YIMBY/NIMBY debate. Jokes aside, I was curious as to why they were two accounts tweeting that. Turns out it’s the new CoTweets feature.

Several Twitter users have been testing the CoTweets feature today, and the experience allows a main tweet author to invite someone else to be tagged in the tweet and discuss the contents over DM. The second account needs to approve the co-authored tweet, and the resulting tweet shows it’s co-authored by two people, but replies appear to only be directed toward the main author of the tweet.

So far it looks like only one user is shown in the embeds as you can see here.

I don’t really see the benefit in having this feature, but it makes for some good jokes I guess.
