Edge Doesn’t Support AVIF Images

While testing responsive images in Hugo, the AVIF image wasn’t being selected as the currentSrc. After a few seconds of frustration, I looked up AVIF on CanIUse.com and it turns out that it isn’t supported in Edge.
Not sure why and I don’t want to speculate, but it’s rather strange for a Chrome derivative browser not to support this. I use Edge because Microsoft insists that I use it and it isn’t that bad, though it can get annoying at times.
